Content Is King
Serve The Search Engines & Your Visitors
Content is king, that is what any internet marketer worth their salt will tell you about
marketing online. When people visit your web site it is the content that
will keep them on the site while they learn of what you have to offer.
Content not only serves your site's vistors it also serves the search
engines spydering your site. The spyders are looking for useful content
to offer the surfing public. The search spyders are content crawlers, plain
and simple. They are looking for content that is the most appropriate match
for the millions of search queries they serve every day.
Search engines match content to queries by the keyword relevance found on your pages.
Does that mean the more your keywords show on the page the better chance a
that page has to rank on the 1st page of Google? Yes and no. Yes to showing up
appropriately and in context to the content, but, no to spamming the page
with overkill. Usually somewhere between 3 - 5% is about right.
Your pages should read well for visitors too, not just the search spyders.
After all, once the search engines make your page available it will be king
contents job of keeping visitors interested and on the site.
Good content is what it takes to get organic traffic to your pages without
having to pay for it.
Besides on page content there are other factors that help rank a site on page
one of the big three search engines, but, we'll leave that for another day.
So how does one create all that content? Short answer, start writing. If you
are writing about something you are not versed in then there are a couple ways
to go. Hire out the writing or create your own with a word spinner.
It's important that your pages only contain original content if you want to
rank well, otherwise why would a search engine bother to present your site if
it's just like another? That doesn't even consider the ethical issue of stealing
the copyrighted work of others.
